Artist Portrait #1 : Alessi Rose, the rising pop star

If you still haven’t heard of the Derby-born, up and coming artist Alessi Rose, it’s time to catch up !

Inspired by her role model, Gracie Abrams, the British singer decided a few years ago to start posting covers on social media. Alone at her piano, late at night, this is where the adventure began. Her innate talent and passion for music combined with an outgoing and endearing personality, Alessi Rose is the perfect recipe for a future pop star.

But how did it start ? With no real knowledge of the industry, Alessi learnt how to produce songs during Covid, all on her own. With no connections in music, she put in the work, slowly growing a small community through her videos and her lives on TikTok. Because of the attention she got on social media, Alessi gathered the courage to submit her first unmixed and unmastered songs to BBC Introducing, a platform dedicated to discovering and supporting smaller artists. Every Saturday night, her first creations were shown to the public before a label found her on social media and changed her life.

In 2023, her career officially kicked off with her first singles “say ur mine” and “hate this part” which helped her bring in many fans who quickly developed a strong sense of loyalty and community. Her fandom was born and ready to fight for her to make her mark on the music world. 

There’s no surprise to say that Alessi is set to be a star when her first singles sound like an artist who has been in the industry for years. A voice that enchants you and songwriting that makes you enter the musician’s universe of heartbreaks, delusional love stories and self questioning. 

A new year starts and nobody could’ve predicted how fast Alessi would grow. 2024 is a big year with new music, first live performances and much more for our prodigy.

The rising star starts the year off with a brand new single “eat me alive”, a deeply relatable pop-rock song that brings in a new wave of followers and gives us a taste of what the next months will look like. Indeed, the year is marked by the various single releases leading up to her first EP “rumination as ritual”. In this project, Alessi opens up about her relationships and mental health, showing us her personality in a project that proves how bright her future is. She talks freely about her emotions through lyrics that touches her fans who relate instantly to what she has to say. 

Alessi feels the need to write, what used to be a hobby, is now something she physically needs to do in order to thrive. 

Alessi Rose attaches great importance to her fans, to whom she tries to be close. Through fan hangouts, zooms and release parties all throughout the year, she shows how grateful she is to her audience, building a strong relationship with the people who support her everyday. 

Their passion not only shined when meeting the artist during these events but also in the crowds at her first live performances. Indeed, 2024 did not only bring music opportunities to the singer but also the chance to finally perform her songs with her fans without a screen separating them. From opening for Fletcher and Noah Kahan to her own sold out headline tour all over the UK, this year we had the chance to see Alessi grow and learn in the wide world of music which she has been thrown in.

In 2024, she is invited to perform at Reading and Leeds Festival performing her songs on the BBC Introducing stage, the ones who helped her career to take off, now helping even more. In 2025, she is set to share the main stage with some of her inspirations like Chappell Roan. A transition only a few dare to dream of. 

After the release of her first EP, the voice behind “rumination as ritual” didn’t want to stop for a minute before continuing on feeding her fans with life altering music. With her singles “oh my” and “start all over”, she reaches millions of streams and gathers hundreds of listeners across platforms, to build an audience of faithful and devoted fans. Alessi, as it happens, wanted to thank these people wether they’ve been here from the beginning or recently joined, by dedicating a beautiful song to them called “pretty world”. The singer opens up about the need to feel loved, showing how much fans have helped her throughout her career to feel like she deserves what she has been given. Her appreciation is heard and felt deeply though lyrics that any fangirl can relate to. A pretty world which you do not want to ever leave, feeling safe and understood which is exactly what Alessi has successfully achieved over the few months since she started her career.

Today, January 17th 2025, Alessi has just released her second EP “for your validation” which she is about to hear sung back to her during her sold out UK and European tour in April. 

For me, it has been a privilege to follow and support the incredible artist that Alessi is and it is with great pleasure that I share with you the soundtrack of my life that she has been part of for the last year. 

Her future can only be promising and brilliant and I encourage anybody to listen to Alessi  Rose before she becomes the next pop queen.
